Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a dark blue and orange olla divided diagonally from right to left, with a vertical gold sword, point up, crossed diagonally in the middle of the blade a lightning bolt and key, ward up and out. Attached at bottom a green scroll inscribed "ANTE UP ALL IN" in gold.

Symbolism
The olla shaped shield, adapted from the 34th Infantry Division, pays tribute to the "34th Red Bull Division." Dark blue is the color traditionally used by Infantry units. The sword represents military readiness, also alluding to the unit's designation of the First Brigade as well as the mission requirement of being "first in." The sword is pointed towards the North Star showing both purpose and direction. The lightning bolt and orange background signifies the Signal branch. The key denotes both the Military Intelligence and Military Police roles. The green scroll signifies the contributions of the Military Police Corps. The cross key and lightning bolt signify cooperation and teamwork of the Brigade in support of the mission.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division on 4 October 2006.  It was redesignated for the 334th Engineer Battalion effective 1 September 2014.

Per bend sinister Azure and Tenn, a lightning bolt bendwise sinister and a key, ward upward and outward in saltire, the key head a fleur-de-lis, overall a sword erect throughout, point up, all below a mullet Or.

Crest

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Minnesota Army National Guard: From a wreath Or and Azure, a sheaf of wheat Proper.

Symbolism

Shield

Dark blue is the color traditionally used by Infantry units. The sword represents military readiness, also alluding to the unit's designation of the First Brigade as well as the mission requirement of being "first in." The sword, pointed towards the North Star, shows both purpose and direction. The lightning bolt suggests the Military Intelligence branch of electronic communication function and gathering of intelligence. The key denotes both the Quartermaster and Military Police roles. The cross key and lightning bolt signify cooperation and teamwork of the Brigade in support of the mission.

Crest

The crest is that of the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Background
The coat of arms was originally approved for the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division on 4 October 2006.  It was redesignated for the 334th Engineer Battalion effective 1 September 2014.
